I’m Cláudio Marques, a photographer from the north of Portugal.
Photography isn’t my job. It’s the way I pay attention.
I photograph people, animals, landscapes and places, always in natural light, never staged. I’m drawn to what most people walk past: old houses, windows, shadows, abandoned interiors, small everyday gestures, and the quiet relationship between people and the places they live in.
My editing is simple and discreet. I’d rather keep an image honest than make it perfect.
Photography has helped me through difficult times. It gave me a way to slow down, breathe and look more closely. Some of that turned into longer projects, like After the Noise in the Azores and Overexposed in Madeira.
I shoot with a Sony A7 III, mostly with a 24–70mm.
Thank you for taking the time to look.
