São Miguel, Azores, Portugal
2025
For years, I imagined this trip. The Azores always felt like a part of my country that sits almost outside of it, where time runs differently. This time, it finally happened.
The world is noisy, rushed, saturated. Here I found the opposite: a place small and huge at the same time, where the sea, the climate and the people share the same calm rhythm, and nobody seems to be trying to dominate anything. Just coexist, with respect.
I didn’t come looking for postcards or the best photo. I came to observe, to feel, to keep what can’t be explained: the sound of water, fog coming in from the road, damp mornings, worn-out houses, silences full of stories.
After a year marked by loss, change and fatigue, photography helped me slow down, breathe and see more deeply.
Each image is a fragment of that experience. And even if the world keeps spinning fast, there are moments that remain.
And they stay whole.
